| IIIT-Calcutta started functioning from the academic session 2000-2001. It currently has 2 batches and is currently based at the TTTI-Campus in Block-FC in Salt Lake City at Kolkata. It currently has a student strength of around 200 students ( 2 batches of 100 each). The institute has well equipped laboratories and provides a good access to practical as well as theoretical knowledge to students. The institute has been allotted over 6 acres of land in the DN-Block, Sector V in the Salt Lake City region. The institute has been established under the Government of West Bengal. The institute takes admissions on the basis of All India Entrance Examinations. The number of students admitted each year is limited to 100.
